Request and quotation terms
Owner approval pending — placeholder. No terms of trade have been approved for publication, so none are printed here. This page states what the approved document will cover. Nothing below is a term of trade, a price, a validity period or a warranty.
HOW REQUESTS ARE HANDLED TODAY
Facts about how this site and the desk already work. They are checkable on the pages themselves; the approved document will put them formally.
- A request for quotation is an enquiry. Submitting one places no order and commits neither side.
- A quotation answers a request against its reference. It is a priced response, not an acceptance of an order.
- No price appears on a catalogue listing, and no quantity is published unless it has been counted against a pack.
- Availability and lead time are confirmed on the quotation against your quantity and delivery date, not from a listing.
- Your requirement is recorded as you entered it. Nothing is rounded, substituted or converted silently.
WHAT THE APPROVED TERMS WILL COVER
- How long a quotation stands
- Its validity period, and what happens to a price after it lapses.
- How an order is placed
- What turns an accepted quotation into an order, and what document confirms it.
- Payment and currency
- Terms, currency and the point at which payment is due.
- Delivery and incoterms
- The delivery term quoted against, who carries the risk, and where title passes.
- Documentation supplied
- Which certificates and traceability documents ship with a unit, and which are supplied on request. What can be supplied for a given part is confirmed on its quotation.
- Cancellation, return and warranty
- What may be cancelled or returned, in what condition and within what period, and what warranty attaches to new and to retreaded goods.
- Export control and end use
- The declarations required about destination and end use.
ASKING BEFORE IT IS PUBLISHED
Any of the above can be asked of the desk against a specific request, and the answer is given on the quotation rather than assumed from this page.
